Volunteering

Join our friendly team and get hands on with history. Whether you’re helping to restore vehicles, greeting visitors, assisting at events or supporting admin behind the scenes, every volunteer plays an important role in keeping the museum running smoothly. No experience needed, just enthusiasm, curiosity and love of heritage.

Volunteering

We’re often asked what exactly volunteering entails. Well, let’s dismiss the myth right here, right now that it is all about being mechanical, banging hammers and struggling with spanners. Of course this goes on, but there is much more to our museum. We need those keen to support its smooth running. Simple tasks, but tasks that put a shine on things are always important. Time commitment can be as little or as much as you like; when and how you want to play your part. You don’t have to live in the museum 24/7. Front of house roles play their part as do sweeping, mopping and generally keeping the building clean. Anyone with a skill or trade at their fingertips will never be short of friends! Helping out on regular event days also make an important contribution. Volunteers are always encouraged to become members in order that they can be kept informed of what’s going on.
